Criteria for Decluttering

It’s simple. Whenever you’re torn about getting rid of something or keeping it, ask yourself these two questions:

  1. Do I need it?
  2. Do I love it?

If the answer is yes to either one, you keep it.

  1. Dear Clutter Coach,
Your Web site is one of my favorite organizing blogs (and I really try to keep up with all the major ones I know of – about 45 in all!)
Just wanted to pass along a related article I wrote called Motivation to Reduce Consumption and Clutter: http://www.sparkleize.com/2008/06/01/motivation-to-reduce-consumption-and-clutter/
Similar to what you suggest, I include questions to ask ourselves – which, if answered honestly and thoughtfully, can really go a long way to reducing our clutter!
    Thank you,
    Crystal D.,
